Watch out Daddy, the kids are growin up fast. This afternoon we had a birthday party to attend that was dress-up. Can you guess who these two are? M is Cinderella the bride and N is "George" (George Strait) with guitar and all. He looked so cute with his wranglers, boots, belt and hat, but he refused to wear the hat when we got to the party. Right when we walked in someone asked if he was Garth Brooks, but he corrected them and said, "George," like duh, what were you thinking? Very funny... But the real story here is M. She was so excited to be a bride. This is a dress we got from a neighbor and it belonged to her daughter when she was little. So cute and fit her like it was made for her. We made a veil and trimmed it in blue ribbon for Cinderella. Fast forward about 20-25 yrs and this is what Mommy and Daddy will remember about little M's wedding day. Can't even go there or tears will form, but this will be fun to pull out when she does get married. For now, she says she is marrying Gus, and tells us as if she is already making the plans. That would be a great arranged marriage for in-laws, too!

Have you heard? Nolan caught a whale!

The boys went this past weekend on a fishing trip to Gastons with Poppa. They had a great time. I was a little apprehensive about how much fishing was actually going to happen with a 2 yr old in the fishing boat, but Nolan did great (so I hear) and all had a good time. Before they left Nolan kept telling me that he was going to catch me a whale. It was a catch and release trip and they had a guide (in the pic above) but they had a great time with fish caught in the double digits. Nolan said that the fish told him they would "see him next year." So, maybe this is the first of a great annual "boys" trip to make wonderful memories for both father and son.

The clubhouse is ready, or almost ready!

After about 4 full days of work, we are proud to say that between Chris, his Dad and myself we have finally completed most of what the kids are calling the clubhouse. (We chose not to put up the monkey bars yet, since they are so tall and Chris has seen many a wrist break from monkey bar play.) They are great fans of Mickey and Minnie and so this is a clubhouse to them. It has already provided hours of imaginative play and we have enjoyed just seeing their faces and listening to them talk about it. I told M as I put her down for a nap that maybe when she woke up the swing would be on and she said, "it came true!" She was evidently wishing for a swing since the boxes came home. The first day it was in the garage she had a friend over and she said, "come on let's play on the swing set." Both girls ran over and just sat on the 4 huge boxes that held the pieces.
