Little cowgirl & cowboy

I will always be a Louisiana Girl, at heart, but I thought it was time to get the kids cowboy hats since they will be spending their childhood here. They absolutely loved them! Our neighbors have invited us to go to a miniature horse farm with them tomorrow and the kids cannot wait. I am hoping to snap some great pictures of the horses and the kids. (That may just be wishful thinking, since last time there was a horse involved with our family I ended up being smeared with horse poop all down my jeans by a little cowgirl's boots who became afraid of the horse when it sneezed.) I was not aware that the average height of a miniature horse is less than 3 feet. I think that I am as excited to see these little things as the kids. This will be what M calls a "family date" since Daddy is off and will be able to go, too.

Our Sweet Friends

Everyone was happy as we had some of our favorite people over for a visit. Russ, April, Gus & Ava came for the weekend. We had a ball playing at the Brookshires park and museum. The Brookshire family loves to hunt and then bring back their kill and stuff it for kids all over Tyler to see. My children were scared to death as most of the animals have the "ready to bite" look but it is still neat. The girls played dress up all weekend long. I think we were all a little sad to see them pull out of the driveway because everyone always has a great time together.

My little flamingos

We took our first trip to the zoo today. It was a great little zoo with a lot of different animals. The kids had a blast and the parents did, too, because most of the zoo trails are shaded which made it quite a pleasant day. I asked M what her favorite animal at the zoo was and she named 10 different animals that we had seen. N just kept saying, "chomp, chomp" and "moo, moo" which would be interpreted as the alligator and the longhorn cattle that we saw today. He refuses to say the name of the animal and would rather say their sound. I am attaching a picture from our time with the flamingo exhibit. The kids were doing their own impersonation of a flamingo.
